Drug-maker Endo signs $65M opioid settlement with Florida

(Reuters) – Drugmaker Endo International PLC said Tuesday it had agreed to repay to $65 million to resolve claims through the state of Florida and local governments the drug-maker helped fuel the U.S. opioid epidemic.

The deal may be the latest inside a string of settlements that Endo has struck in recent months to solve similar cases, including a $63 million settlement with Texas in December.

The Florida settlement included no admission of wrongdoing, Endo said, while reiterating that it is goal ended up being to achieve a global opioid settlement.

Thousands of lawsuits happen to be filed seeking to hold drug-makers, drug distributors and pharmacy chains accountable for a medication abuse crisis, which the U.S. government says has resulted in hundreds of thousands of overdose deaths over 2 decades.
