The Securities and Exchange Commission said Monday it has granted two awards totaling a lot more than $4 million to whistleblowers who provided information and assistance in 2 separate cases.
In the first order, the SEC awarded about $2.6 million to some whistleblower who provided significant new information to an existing investigation that alerted agency staff to misconduct occurring overseas, which may have been hard to detect otherwise, the SEC said inside a statement.
In the second order, the SEC awarded about $1.5 million to joint whistleblowers who provided substantial ongoing assistance during an investigation.
The SEC doesn't release information that may reveal whistleblowers' identities.
