Peaches Patties is owned and operated by Shani Jones and Yeheyis Bedada. The duo bake and cater traditional Jamaican dishes and patties. The reputation for Peaches Patties originates from Shani's mother, who is lovingly known as “Peaches” by family and friends. According to Shani, if you visited the Jones family household anytime in the late '80s or '90s, you might have found a Jamaican beef patty shoved among the sofa cushions. Or under someone's pillow. Or tucked into a bookshelf.
Peaches Patties happens to be operating out of an industrial kitchen space provided by La Cocina, one of PCV's major partners within the San francisco bay area. La Cocina is an organization that supports food businesses owned by ladies and people of color from underinvested communities. Prior to joining La Cocina, Shani was operating her business from her mother's kitchen. Since their establishment this year, Peaches Patties LLC has grown significantly year over year and aspires to spread out 8 locations throughout California in addition to produce a frozen type of its products easily obtainable in supermarkets out of state.
Shani plans to make the most of her unique market positioning within the Bay Area, and particularly in Bay area where Jamaican Cuisine is virtually unavailable. They have established relationships with various catering and food services such as Cater2.me, ZeroCater, Chewse, Caviar, The marketplace, and Woodland Market. Their growth and different cultural offering have gained them attention in popular food publications like Sunset Magazine and Bon Appetit.
From a residential area and good jobs standpoint, Peaches Patties strives to be a good employer. They currently offer transportation benefits to their employees and therefore are seeking to add-on healthcare benefits in Spring of 2022 as they continue to grow their operation. Despite the fact that Shani is managing a great business with a growing subscriber base, they couldn't obtain the funding they needed to grow from traditional lenders. The team at PCV is happy to utilize Peaches Patties because they expand their business right into a new production facility, with everything from a dough mixer, convection ovens, and capital to employ and train new employees.
