Kainbigan is really a minority-owned, female-owned Filipino restaurant and catering service in the heart of Oakland, California. Kainbigan's success suddenly made their space seem cramped, so that they required to grow by buying kitchen space and catering equipment (together with a van!)
Kainbigan made a decision to work with our CDFI, Pacific Community Ventures, because after liquidating personal belongings (and with deficiencies in family wealth to depend on), the company needed financing to help support growth. Not yet bankable, they'd also become at a loss for a high-interest loan from an online lender-and turned to PCV’s nonprofit small business lending program to find away out out. See what happened:
In 2022, Kainbigan hired two full-time cooks, expanded their catering, and it is planning the outlet of a second location in Oakland.
