Out Of The Box Collective is really a certified B-Corp farm-to-table home delivery service. Founder Jennifer Piette had an international career in film before moving to La in 2007. She was a screenplay writer for 3 more years before her passions for food, health, and also the environment led her to start Out From the Box Collective in 2011. They were among the first companies nationally to specialize in sourcing local foods from not only farmers, but ranchers, fishermen, bee-keepers, artisans, vintners and more.
Jennifer manages the daily operations, sales, and logistics of the company, while her husband Jason manages the accounts, deliveries, and online presence. Each week, As they are Collective supplies a curated local choice of organic produce, pastured meats, artisan goods, diet plans, and recipes to households across Southern California. They prioritize buying local, organic or pesticide-free, GMO-free whenever possible, and sustainably produced foods.
The company has a storefront on Amazon Fresh, and in 2022, the organization launched a web-based magazine focused on the Southern California foodscape: Forage & Pasture. They highlight the emerging sustainable food system while inspiring people to eat local and obtain into the kitchen. In April 2022, the organization merged with produce-only box provider Summerland, whose founder, Alejandro de Castro, joined they during the transition.
Out from the Box is B Corp certified, meaning the company meets rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. This past year, the organization was included in B-Corp's 2022 “Best for the World” list, and was chosen to sign up inside a showcase for the Slow Money National Gathering.
Even with all of this growth and success, Out Of The Box Collective was still being facing a constant climb with the traditional banking system. So, they approached PCV for support.
